Bit Rate:
in relation to an audio file refers to the audio quality. The higher the bit rate the more detailed, and higher quality, the sound is. Therefore, an 8 bit file is of lesser audio quality than a 16 or 24
bit file.
BPM: stands for Beats Per Minute. The beats per minute denote the tempo, or speed, of a piece of music, instrumental sample or loop.
EFX:
this abbreviation literally stands for "effects." These sounds are isolated sounds for a specific use. An example would be an explosion, door closing, or human foley (footsteps, a sneeze, baby sounds, etc.).
Frequency: The number of complete oscillations per second that occur in wave forms. The higher the frequency the higher the quality of sound.
Loop: is a short audio file that is designed to be seamlessly repeated.
One Shot: is a sample that does not have a tempo or rhythm. For example a single drum hit or note played on a keyboard.
Samples: are brief clips of instruments or vocals that can be manipulated, combined, and layered to create complete songs.
Sound FX: are stock noises that add realism to film, television, and radio, and give crucial cues and feedback in videogames, websites, CD-ROMs, and wireless devices.
Style: refers to the genre of an audio file, as in Rock, Hip-Hop or Jazz. Sub-Style refers to the particular type of Style. For example, Hard-Rock and Alternative-Rock are Sub-Styles of Rock.
Type: refers to the two kinds of Samples offered on Sonomic: One Shots and Loops.
